Songs and Dances in Honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe
4:30–7:00 a.m. Sunday, December 12

Catholics across Mexico and other countries make a pilgrimage to see the image of Mary at the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City. At midnight on her feast day, singers and mariachi groups sing “Las Mañanitas” (happy birthday song) and other special songs to our Lady for a few hours. During the day, the old tradition is kept: dancers perform an indigenous dance to the unique rhythm of the drums. It is an offering to God and our Lady.
