The St. Mary Food Pantry
Sadly, there is a high number of people in our city that require food assistance. We are regularly serving over 100 families a month.
All are welcome at the food pantry at St. Mary Church, which is open on the first & third Mondays of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. and on the first & third Wednesdays of each month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The pantry is located in the corner of the parking lot at at 418 Second St. NW. Look for the brightly painted windows on the small building. No identification is required, but we ask for a name and zip code from everyone who comes for help.
If a person needs food assistance when our food pantry is closed, please call us at tel. 616.358.2007 and leave a message. Understand that it may take us time to retrieve the message and get back to you.

You can help
Donations of non-perishable food items, soaps, toilet paper, etc. are always needed and welcome. We also use paper and plastic grocery bags in which to pack food. These may be dropped off at the food pantry by appointment or at the St. Mary Church office during office hours, or left in the vestibule of the church.

Our efforts at recycling to raise money for the pantry is definitely helping. Please continue to use the Paper Gator and bring your scrap metal for the Metal for Meals metal drives!

The need is great, but so is the heart of our parish and our community!

God has been blessing us, and new things keep happening that allow us to continue to meet this increasing need.
Our partnership with Feeding America West Michigan is reducing our food costs dramatically. We are even able to buy some items of food for 18 cents a pound that would cost far more if we had to buy them at a store.
El Milagro Tortilleria supports us with regular donations of tortillas. They also provide us with holiday meal boxes at Thanksgiving and Easter.
We have been blessed with the assistance of Family Fare/the SpartanNash Foundation through their Scan to End Hunger campaign and purchases of food for our holiday meal boxes.
We are very grateful to the Stewart & Lenore Kniff Family Foundation for their generous support.
We have received funds from the Alpine Meijer store as their designated food pantry for the Simply Give program.
Other organizations, including the Basilica of St. Adalbert and West Catholic High School have held food drives for our pantry.
La Despensa de alimentos de la Iglesia Santa María
Lamentablemente, hay un gran número de personas en nuestra ciudad que requieren asistencia alimentaria. Estamos sirviendo regularmente a más de 100 familias al mes.

Siempre se necesitan y se agradecen donaciones de alimentos no perecederos, jabones, papel higiénico, etc. También usamos bolsas de papel y plástico para empaquetar la comida. Estos pueden dejarse en la despensa de alimentos con cita previa, o en oficina de la iglesia de Santa María durante el horario de oficina, o en el vestíbulo de la iglesia.
